I woke up today and found out that my Duolingo day streak becomes 1 day. It means the Duolingo app didn’t record what I learned yesterday, and the 903 day streak was gone.
I was first shocked a little bit, then my second thought was: I don’t want to learn French anymore because I lost the long day streak. Then I immediately realized that I wasn’t learning French for the language itself but the long day streak.
That was a bad sign. The app was still broken, so I logged on the Duolingo webapp. I learned one lesson and the day streak continues because I had some “freezes”.
The “learning French” activity becomes more of a game instead of a language learning event. I should stop and think what exactly I want.
I started a chess lesson on Duolingo. It is fun. I learn it like playing games and I feel like learning french the first few lessons. It was fun, exciting and enjoyable.
